👋 Hello from the Metaphor team! October was a busy month getting many new and highly-requested features done. This month we are bringing more social insights to our users, introducing dbt Metrics as a first-class asset in Metaphor, supporting a new Azure Synapse integration, and so much more!
Metaphor now supports dbt Metrics as a first-class object within the catalog. Business users can directly search for and examine a Metric definition, see the dashboards it is used in, view how it is calculated, and see its lineage.
We now display data on how many people have viewed an asset within Metaphor. This lets data teams understand the relative popularity of the metadata within the catalog and provides social proof to all users on which assets their colleagues care about.
You can now browse to a table/view node in the lineage and directly see the transform SQL statement used to create the table.
Folders in the Document Center can now be filtered by Tag(s) or Status.
Metaphor now supports Synapse as a first-class platform. As we welcome more customers and deepen our partnership with Azure, we are aggressively building greater support for other Azure products like SQL DB, Dataflow, and others. Reach out to us if there are any that you’d like to see us prioritize.
The Metaphor Metadata Platform represents the next evolution of the Data Catalog - it combines best in class Technical Metadata (learnt from building DataHub at LinkedIn) with Behavioral and Social Metadata. It supercharges an organization’s ability to democratize data with state of the art capabilities for Data Governance, Data Literacy and Data Enablement, and provides an extremely intuitive user interface that turns even the most non-technical user into a fan of the catalog.
